Concession fee: conversion from tariff to special contract customer

The concession fees for electricity and gas are regulated by the Concession Fees Ordinance (KAV). There are statutory price caps for the concession fee. Depending on the size of the community, it is 1.32 to 2.39 ct/kWh. The larger the municipality, the higher the concession fee is usually.

Network users can be classified as special contract customers. This classification is independent of the size of the community. In many cases, customers are classified as special contract customers, but are treated as tariff customers. Special contract customers only pay a concession fee of 0.11 ct/kWh. This classification can therefore achieve savings of up to 95%.

Acteno switches the measurement from SLP to rLM, which also determines the maximum performance. The customer has a maximum load of 32 kW in two months of the year.

Initial situation

Customers with an annual consumption of 80,000 kWh in a large city with >500,000 inhabitants are still classified as tariff customers via their SLP measurement.

Application

Acteno installs a performance measurement and thereby determines the maximum performance. The billing will be changed from tariff customers to special contract customers in coordination with the network operator.

Calculation so far

Concession fee as a tariff customer: 2.39 cents / kWh

80,000 kWh x 0.0239 euros per kWh = 1,912 euros
New calculation

Concession fee as a special contract customer: 0.11 cents / kWh

80,000 kWh x 0.0011 euros per kWh = 88 euros
Saving

1,912 euros – 88 euros = 1,824 euros p.a.
