Concession Fee: Transition from Tariff to Special Contract Customer

Concession Fee: Transition from Tariff to Special Contract Customer

The concession fees for electricity and gas are regulated by the Concession Fees Regulation (KAV). There are statutory price caps for the concession fee. Depending on the size of the municipality, it ranges from 1.32 to 2.39 cents per kWh. Generally, the larger the municipality, the higher the concession fee.

Network users can be classified as special contract customers. This classification is independent of the size of the municipality. Often, customers are classified as special contract customers but are treated as tariff customers. Special contract customers only pay a concession fee of 0.11 cents per kWh.

Thus, through this classification, savings of up to 95% can be achieved.

Consumers are considered special contract customers if they have:

Note: This can be combined with the Converstion from SLP to rLM measurement.

Comparison of concession fees:

Version Population Amount in cents per kWh
Tariff customers up to 25.000 1,32
up to 100.000 1,59
up to 500.000 1,99
above 500.000 2,39
Low load tariffs 0,61
Special contract customers 0,11

acteno converts the measurement from SLP to rLM, which also determines the maximum output. The customer has a maximum load of 32 kW in two months of the year.

Initial situation

Customer with an annual consumption of 80,000 kWh in a large city > 500,000 inhabitants is still classified as a tariff customer via his SLP metering.

Application

acteno installs a power measurement and thereby determines the maximum power. In coordination with the network operator, the billing is changed from tariff customer to special contract customer.

Calculation to date

Concession fee as a tariff customer: 2,39 Cent / kWh

80.000 kWh x 0,0239 Euro pro kWh = 1.912 Euro
New calculation

Concession fee as a special contract customer: 0,11  Cent / kWh

80.000 kWh x 0,0011 Euro pro kWh = 88 Euro
Savings

1.912 Euro – 88 Euro = 1.824 Euro p.a.
